Checked baggage

New rules for checked baggage for bookings made July 1, 2010 or after and for travel on/after October 1, 2010.

General rules
Free of charge baggage allowance with Blue1 and SAS except to/from USA:

  • 30 kg in Business class
  • 30 kg in Economy Extra on intercontinental routes
  • 20 kg in other cases
  • travel with infant without its own seat: 10 kg plus a fully collapsible stroller

EuroBonus/Star Alliance Gold members: additional 20 kg.
EuroBonus Silver members: additional 10 kg.

Flights to/from USA
Free of charge baggage allowance with Blue1 & SAS to/from USA:

  • 2 pieces, each at most 32 kg, maximum size 158 cm, in Business and Economy Extra
  • 1 piece, at most 23 kg, maximum size 158 cm, in Economy; for bookings made before April 1, 2010, the allowance is 2 pieces
  • travel with infant without its own seat: 23 kg, max. size 115 cm, plus a fully collapsible stroller 

EuroBonus/Star Alliance Gold members: 1 additional piece of 32 kg.

Flights operated by other airlines
Other baggage rules may apply when flying with flights operated by other airlines than Blue1 and SAS. Please check with the respective airline before departure.

Special baggage rules
For information on special baggage, e.g. sports equipment and oversize items, please check the applicable rules:

Please call Blue1 Sales Center in advance if you need to book transport for special baggage.

For security reasons, some items are not allowed at all even in checked baggage. Check out the SAS page Goods not allowed in the baggage (in English).

Weight regulations
When the total weight of your baggage exceeds the baggage allowance, you should request this in advance by calling Blue1 Sales Center.

For health and safety reasons, each piece of your baggage must not weigh more than 32 kg / 70 lbs. If a piece weighs more, we ask you to repack the baggage or send it as cargo.

If the total weight of your checked baggage exceeds 500 kg, it must always be sent it as cargo.

Baggage drop
If you have used any of our Self Service check-in options, you should leave your baggage at the Baggage Drop counter. The staff at the counter will make sure that the baggage tag is matched with your ticket and your ID.
