The first Blue1 Boeing 717 commercial flight took off for Copenhagen on Sunday, September 5, 2010 from Helsinki. With the new modern Boeing 717 aircraft type Blue1 is to renew the livery of its whole fleet.
The Boeing 717 aircraft is to operate short and somewhat longer flights which covers the demand of Blue1's future traffic program and emphasis on business travel.
Flowing - the new theme of flying
Wiht the new Boeing 717 aircraft, the visual look of Blue1 is renewed. It reflects Blue1's identity and business strategy, the new era of flying. All the new passenger aircraft follow the Flowing theme. Each and every aircraft has its own personal livery, though, which makes the renewal of the fleet livery so exceptional.
The Blue1 aircraft have until this day been named after Finnish lakes and now the Flowing theme completes the water theme - all the different shapes of Finnish water. The new Flowing livery has been carried out in cooperation with the Aalto University School of Art and Design.
