Blue1 is the only Finnish airline to sign a collaboration agreement with World Design Capital Helsinki 2012. The new partnership supports Blue1’s strong input to a contemporary and future Finland – targeting a new kind of comfort for air travellers by means of Design and Service Design.
Design and Service Design are competitive means with which to distinguish Blue1 from other companies when considering “New Generation Travellers”, the new Blue1 Premium target group of today’s Finnish business travellers.
Design is part of the travel experience. The significance of the experience will be further emphasized in the future, as well as the ease and comfort for the customer throughout the entire travelling chain. This year Blue1 has begun to strongly develop its air travel product, focusing on widely renewing its Premium service concept over the coming years. Innovations, Service Design and high-quality design are essential elements for customers in Blue 1’s future service product.
In terms of Design and Service Design, the most visible ongoing project at Blue1 is the new visual appearance of Blue1 aircraft, called Flowing. Since joining the Blue1 fleet during the autumn and winter, the unique, plane-specific livery of the Boeing 717 aircraft has been created through ground-breaking collaboration with the School of Art and Design at the Aalto University. The School of Art and Design is the leader in graphic design in Finland and, therefore, a natural partner for Blue1 in building a service design for the new traveller generation, enabling the expansion of Service Design throughout Blue1’s entire service chain.
The new collaboration with World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 is a natural continuation of the partnership with the Aalto University.
Helsinki and the entire metropolitan area are the home of Blue1, and being able to promote Helsinki and Finnish design with other Finnish quality brands is a privilege for Blue1, a growing Finnish airline company.
