Additional needs

Booking online?
We recommend that all reservations including additional assistance is booked via the Blue1 Sales Center or your travel agent. The request for additional assistance must be made no later than 48 hours prior to departure.

Passengers with reduced mobility and wheelchair assistance
You are allowed to bring both a collapsible and a power driven wheelchair as baggage free of charge. When you inform the Blue1 Sales Center about the wheelchair, it is important to include the measurements and weight of the equipment. This is to ensure that it will fit into the aircraft compartments.

If you have difficulty getting to or from the aircraft and need assistance, this will be provided by the local airport authority, or a company selected by them. They will be happy to provide you with a wheelchair and assistance from check-in to arrival. Below are some guidelines as to what you can expect from us.

  • You should arrive at the airport approximately 2 hours before scheduled departure, if you require assistance from the parking area. You must be checked in no later than 1 hour before departure.
  • Please note that a wheelchair powered by a spillable battery may not be transported on Blue1 aircraft. If you have difficulty getting to or from the aircraft, we are happy to assist you.

Onboard
In the interests of safety, crew members are not authorized to lift passengers between cabin seat and wheelchair and can not be of assistance e.g during a visit to the lavatory.

Blind or deaf passengers
All blind or deaf passengers, traveling without escort or travel companion, will be assisted by a local airport assistance company.  However, since the number of assisted passengers is limited on each flight, please request this service well in advance via the Blue1 Sales Center.

Guide dogs
You are allowed to bring your seeing eye dog or hearing aid dog on board, free of charge. The dog is excluded from weight limitation and container requirement when traveling in the cabin.

For all other medical needs, like lie flat transportation (stretcher), etc., the Medical Department needs to be consulted. In most cases, a medical certificate (MEDIF) and accompanying passenger(s) plus a doctor or nurse will be required.
