Child discounts and how to travel with children
Blue1 and SAS offer child and infant discount for children traveling with their parents on domestic and European routes. On intercontinental routes, the discount is based on the type of ticket.
What do we mean by "infant"
An infant is a child who has not yet reached 2 years of age but is at least 7 days old. If you want to reserve a seat for the infant, the fare is the same as for a child ticket. If you pay for the child ticket, you may wish to bring a car seat with you, in which case the width must not exceed 65 cm and the height must not exceed 45 cm.
What do we mean by "child"
A child is a passenger who is 2–11 years of age (not yet 12). A child less than 12 years old is granted a child discount only if traveling with an adult who is over 16 years of age.
Child discount, domestic Finland and Europe
· Children less than 2 years old (without own seat): Infant, 90% discount
· 2-11 years old: 25 % discount if traveling with an adult
Child discount, intercontinental
· 0-1 years: 90% discount
· 2-11 years: 25% discount
Important information if you are traveling with children
Arrive at the airport well in advance.
Check in the stroller with your other baggage.
We recommend that you bring something for your child to eat and drink. A book and a toy are also good to have.
Unaccompanied Minors
- Children aged 5 to 11 traveling alone or together with a person under 16 years of age, must be booked through our Blue1 Sales Center.
- Accompanying person is to prove his/her identity and wait at the airport for the aircraft to depart.
- For each booked unaccompanied minor, an additional service charge per one-way trip will be charged.
International flights: EUR 34 (or equivalent)
Domestic flights in Finland: EUR 17
For safety reasons, only a limited number of unaccompanied minors can be accepted on a given flight. If an unaccompanied child is not booked in advance according to our published rules, Blue1 reserves the right to deny boarding.
A child under 5 years of age is not permitted to travel alone under any circumstances.
