Blue1 takes an active part in reducing environmental impact and works together with the SAS Group for a new environmental strategy. The focus is on reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 20% by 2020, as compared to those in 2007.
Blue1 Environmental Policy
- Blue1 will contribute to sustainable development by optimizing resource use and minimizing its environmental impact in all its operations.
- Blue1’s environmental goals are based on constant improvement and prevention of pollution.
- Blue1 will comply with applicable environmental legislation and other environmental requirements.
- Blue1 environmental objectives and targets shall be ambitious and shall be defined on long-term and short-term basis.
- The objectives and targets shall be set and reviewed annually and continuously followed-up and integrated in Blue1’s management system.
- Blue1 Environmental Policy shall be communicated to all personnel and shall be made available to the public.
Even if the airline industry is only responsible for 2% of all carbon dioxide emissions, we must focus on constantly reducing our environmental impact. This is done by using energy-saving technology and biofuels. The SAS Group's mission regarding environmental issues is IATA's zero vision for 2050 with regard to the greenhouse effect.
Blue1 Environmental aspects
The Blue1 environmental impact is mainly attributable to following environmental aspects:
- Carbon Dioxide, CO2
- Nitrogen Oxides, NOx
- Aircraft Noise, Db
- Hazardous chemicals
- Unsorted in-flight waste
Our environmental aspects are a precondition for identifying environmental priorities and setting appropriate environmental objectives and targets.
The SAS Group is a front-runner in environmental issues, being the first airline group to offer its customers a web-based emission calculator.
